Dear V.,
in this "prebombing" moment, I'm sending you a few words.
Here today, a considerable panic has taken hold, everyone is buying
bread and medicines. Tetka O. and Teca L. want to go to Macke and
to take tetka B (a 92 year old woman). They're worried that if there
is no more electricity, that they won't be able to climb 10 flights
by themselves. Nothing has been decided, because tetka b. doesn't
want to leave, and is inviting us to stay with her, since her building
has a bomb shelter. I keep sort of fatalistically thinking that
the worst won't happen, but it's thick, very thick here. We're truly
under pressure and stress. Otherwise we're ok, if we set aside this
situation. I hope you will get this, because at work the phones
haven't been working since this morning. Love you and sending you
our greetings, M, T, and S.

Dear V.,
i'm writing you in between two attacks. we are in the basement
and were sitting down there until the air raid siren stopped, then
we climbed back up (6 flights of stairs) and had to immediately
run back into the basement. I have come back upstairs, but T and
S are still downstairs. I was cold and wanted to send you this.
The telephone has been blocked since this began. There are many
attacks all over Serbia and Montenegro. So there it is, what I didn't
believe would happen is now happening. Love, M.
