Simulation, Training & Instrumentation Command (STRICOM)

“At the core of the U.S. Army’s efforts to prepare for non-conventional warfare—such as small-scale conflicts and regional flare-ups—is the idea that a soldier must see the enemy before the enemy sees him.”

STRICOM’s role is to provide the US military with a “vision for the future,” forging military and industry partnerships to develop simulation training and visioning systems. One of its key projects, JSIMS (Joint Simulation System), is developing a “a distributed computerized warfare simulations system” in order to support “the twenty-first century warfighter’s preparation for real world contingencies.” STRICOM’s director, Michael Macedonia, was the driving force behind the creation of the Institute for Creative Technologies. In other words, ICT is an offspring institution of STRICOM.
